Anastatica hierochuntica
Family. Brassicaceae.
Origin. From Morocco to Southern Iran.
Description. Anastatica hierochuntica is a true miracle of nature - an extremely unusual herbaceous annual plant. During a drought, it looks like a completely lifeless ball with twisted stems, inside of which are fruits with seeds. In nature, it is carried by the wind across the desert in search of a source of moisture. When the rainy season comes, the stems straighten out, releasing fruits and seeds that germinate within a few hours and form a rather attractive bush with juicy, fragrant green leaves and small white flowers with rounded petals. The leaf blades have a thin whitish pubescence.
Height. Up to 15 cm.
