Home care
Temperature conditions
Like all cacti, it loves to be kept in warm conditions from spring to autumn. In winter, a rest period should be allowed at a temperature of 8 - 12 ° C.
Lighting
Choose a brightly lit location for the denmoza, with some shade from direct sunlight on hot summer days.
Care
A very slow growing species that does not require special growing conditions. It will appreciate good lighting and very well-drained soil.
Substrate
The soil should be well-drained and contain at least 30 percent perlite, pumice or coarse river sand. A ready-made mixture for cacti and succulents is suitable.
Feeding
Apply fertilizers for cacti at half the concentration every month during the period of active growth. In autumn and winter, no fertilizing is done, allowing the flower to rest until new growth begins.
Flowering time
Summer.
Air humidity
There is no need for spraying. In winter, keep indoors where the air remains dry.
Soil moisture
Water sparingly during warmer months. Let the top layer of soil dry out between waterings. In winter, just try not to dry out the earthen ball.
Transplant
Replant once every 2-3 years, in spring, since denmoza develops very slowly.
Reproduction
Seeds sown in spring in loose, moist soil. The seedlings are covered with a plastic cap or glass to maintain humidity and placed in a warm place with a temperature of 22 - 25 ° C, protected from direct sunlight.
Pests and diseases
Rotting when overwatered, especially when kept cool during the dormant period.
Of the harmful insects, the main dangers are spider mites, scale insects, and mealybugs.
