Arachnis

FamilyOrchidaceae.

Origin. Native to Asia, Burma and Thailand.

Description. The genus Arachnis contains about twenty species of orchids - epiphytes and lithophytes. Often used in hybridization. Most species can be crossed with Vanda orchids. Their offspring are then combined into a new genus called Aranda. The plants are large, monopodial, the stems are long, stiff, and climbing. The leaves on the stem are arranged alternately, in two rows, oblong or tapering towards the tip, about 18 cm in length, flat. The inflorescences are low or tall - reaching 1.5 m in length, straight or drooping, sometimes branched, with several large fragrant flowers each. The flowers are about 10 cm in diameter, with large petals, open one by one, waxy. This is one of the most interesting flowers in the orchid world.

Height. Can reach a height of 2-3 meters.
