Description. The Gomeza genus consists of 13 epiphytic, miniature and very delicate orchids. The pseudobulbs are elongated and smooth, each with two yellowish-green or olive-green leaves up to 20 cm long. Tall peduncles, curved in the form of an arc, bear a large number of small flowers with a diameter of up to 1.5 cm, in green, white and yellow shades, the lip is sometimes spotted. At the slightest breath of wind a sweet aroma with citrus notes spreads.

Planting and care

Temperature conditions

Moderately warm or even cool content at a temperature of 16 - 20 ° C during the day, 14 - 16 ° C at night. In winter, not lower than 13 ° C.

Well-lit location without direct sunlight.

Care

A rather demanding plant that is not suitable for beginners.

Substrate for orchids

Standard mixture for orchids from fern fibers, sphagnum moss and coarse river sand, well-drained soil.

During the growing season, 2 times a month with fertilizers for orchids.

Flowering time

From spring to autumn. Sometimes, under good maintenance conditions, this orchid will delight you with repeated flowering throughout the year. 

Air humidity

High, preferably about 60%. Spraying should be done only with soft water at room temperature, but it is better to put the pot on a tray with wet pebbles or use a room humidifier. It is also necessary to ensure good air movement around the gomeza, while avoiding cold drafts.

Water orchids at home

Water deeply in summer. The frequency of watering for this plant directly depends on the temperature. Do not allow water to stagnate in the pan. Reduce the frequency of watering in winter.

If it is necessary to change the substrate or when the orchid has outgrown the pot. It is better not to replant without necessity, since gomez has a delicate root system that can be easily damaged during replanting.
