Origin. South of Mexico, Brazil.

Description. Dryadellas are very small epiphytic orchids. The leaves are green, only 3 - 6 cm long, forming a rosette. Flowers 1 - 2 cm in diameter, on very short peduncles, often lost in the foliage, petals with long sharp tips, yellow, white, orange, often have darker burgundy and brown specks and stripes.

Temperature conditions

Prefers moderately warm conditions in the range from 18 to 24 ° C and night coolness at 15 ° C. The winter dormant period should take place at a temperature of 12 - 15 ° C. 

Lighting

In a well-lit place, but not exposed to direct sunlight. Some species grow well in partial shade.

Care

It is advisable to grow it in a greenhouse, where you can easily maintain the required temperature and humidity.

Substrate for orchids

Based on pine bark, sphagnum moss with the addition of perlite to ensure drainage.

Feeding

Feed twice a month during the period of active growth with fertilizers at half concentration; stop feeding in winter.

Purpose

Rare orchid for collectors. Can be grown in small florariums.

Flowering time

Depending on the species, mostly from March to May. With good care, dryadella blooms again in the fall.

Air humidity

Very high – not less than 50 percent. Do not spray the bush – water can leave unsightly spots on the leaves; it is better to put the pot on a tray with wet gravel or use a humidifier in the room. It is necessary to provide a ventilated place with good air movement, but at the same time protect it from cold drafts.

Water orchids at home

In the warm season, watering is frequent and abundant; in winter, water moderately.

Transfer

It is better to replant as needed - approximately every 3 years, after flowering.

Reproduction

Dividing adult plants.

Pests and diseases

Fungal diseases characteristic of orchids. The main pests are  spider mites and aphids.
